AKRASIA / AKRAZIJA
By KRUNOSLAV BEDI · HR
Akrasia begins as a poem. I am a poet and digital artist, and the work originates in my own poetry. The visual artwork is not an illustration of a pre-existing image or a scene conceived for the screen; it is a visual transformation of a poetic idea. The starting point is the human experience of akrasia — knowing what one intends to do, yet acting against that intention. From the poem, I developed a visual concept and a symbolic system of forms, relationships, atmosphere and detail. I then entered this structure into a generative process, using AI not as an autonomous author but as a creative medium capable of producing unexpected visual possibilities. The process is iterative. I generate numerous possibilities, observe their differences, select those that contain something meaningful, reject those that are generic or conceptually wrong, and continue transforming the selected material. I combine, refine, reshape and recontextualize elements until the image begins to correspond to the original poetic impulse. The final stage is digital post-production, where I make further visual decisions and establish the final form of the artwork. In this way, the work moves through three creative layers: poetry → computational generation → human artistic transformation. Akrasia therefore explores not only the conflict between intention and action, but also the transformation of meaning as a human poetic idea passes through a generative system and returns as a visual artwork.
