Accessibility statement

Conveneo wants the Human After All Prize submission platform to be usable by everyone, including visitors who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers or who navigate without a mouse. This statement explains where we stand against the European web accessibility standard.

Standard we aim for

We aim to conform with WCAG 2.1 level AA, the technical standard referenced by the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882) and its Dutch implementation. We also follow the relevant parts of EN 301 549.

Current conformance status

Partially conformant. The platform implements the core requirements for keyboard accessibility, semantic structure, focus visibility, colour contrast, and reduced-motion preferences, and exposes form feedback to assistive technologies through ARIA live regions.

Known limitations

  • The site is currently English-only; a Dutch translation is planned before the public submission window opens.
  • Uploaded entries (artwork, video, PDF) are not transformed for accessibility — for example, video does not have automated captions. Submitters are encouraged to provide captions or transcripts in their supporting files.
  • External services embedded in the site (Cloudflare Turnstile challenge) follow their own accessibility implementation; Conveneo cannot guarantee their assistive technology behaviour.
  • No external audit has been carried out yet; self-testing is documented in the project repository under docs/accessibility-testing.md.

How we test

  • Automated checks with Pa11y and axe-core against every public page.
  • Manual keyboard-only walk-through of the verification, submission, and vote flows.
  • Visual contrast check of all foreground/background combinations against WCAG AA.
  • Spot-checks with the VoiceOver and NVDA screen readers.

Test runs are logged in the project repository and re-run before each release. Open issues are tracked publicly and resolved on a rolling basis.

Report an accessibility issue

If you encounter a page or interaction that you cannot use, please tell us. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five working days.

Contact: prize@conveneo.eu with the subject line "Accessibility". Please include the page URL and a short description of the problem; screen-reader transcripts or screenshots help us reproduce it quickly.

Legal basis

This statement is published under the Dutch implementation of the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882) and applies to the online submission and voting platform at the prize URL. It does not extend to externally hosted documents such as Conveneo's general website outside the prize subpath.
