The Human Signature
By A.S.Alhebsi · AE
The Human Signature explores what remains distinctly human when creative work is made in collaboration with artificial intelligence. A monumental fingerprint is divided between an organic human form and a digital structure of circuitry and data. At their meeting point is not an AI-generated mark, but my actual handwritten signature. The work developed through a process of selection, rejection and revision. Earlier versions contained multiple screens and competing visual elements, but I removed them to make the fingerprint the central symbol. I also rejected an AI-rendered version of my signature and instead wrote several signatures physically on paper, selected one, photographed it and incorporated the original handwritten strokes into the final composition. The fingerprint represents identity; the circuitry represents computational creation; the handwritten signature represents authorship, responsibility and human choice. The work asks a simple question: when human and machine create together, where can we still see the human hand? My answer is the signature—not merely a name, but the trace of a decision that the machine did not make for me.
