《人之初 — The Beginning》
By Charles Lee · SG
Chapter 1 of an ongoing Human × AI music video series, inspired by the opening lines of the Chinese classic 《三字经》 (Three Character Classic): “人之初,性本善” — “At the beginning of life, human nature is inherently good.” Through a fusion of Chinese fantasy and contemporary pop aesthetics, the film explores human nature, choice, and the relationship between people and AI. Rather than portraying AI as a replacement for humanity, the work reflects on how technology can become part of our evolving human journey while human choice and agency remain at the center. The concept for my story is based on encounters between humans and AI, and asks how we can work together rather than simply compete with one another. The main message and concept of the series is that, in the beginning, everyone starts from the same place — everyone is born with an inherently good nature. We should not be afraid of change, nor should we automatically fear new technologies, including AI, as something that will replace us. Instead, we should recognize the importance of learning and adapting. The people who learn how to use new technologies before us may gain an advantage over those who do not. In this sense, the real challenge is not the technology itself, but whether we are willing to learn, adapt and move forward with it.
