When the Birds Fall Silent

When the Birds Fall Silent is a short video artwork about historical memory, the relationship between people and the land, and the fragility of peace. The visual world originates from my own staged photography. Costumes, makeup, lighting, poses and compositions were created physically during the photographic production. The photographs were then manually retouched and transformed into a moving sequence. Women, birds, animals, sand, fire and cosmic space appear as recurring symbols of memory, choice and disturbed balance. The work gradually moves from physical reality toward metaphor and disappearance. The Earth may outlive us. The question is what traces of human memory will remain.
