To Be Human

To be human is to suffer through every stage of life— from the moment we are born until the moment we die. To be human is to touch the hearts of those who enter our lives, even if, in the end, we must endure the heartache of losing them. Yet we cherish those moments, because they remind us that we have truly lived. To be human is to love, even when love hurts so deeply. Even when we know that desire can wound us, we still run toward love, searching for something our hearts cannot live without. To be human is to cry, because sometimes tears are the only language capable of expressing the pain we carry within. To be human is to suffer, to die and to give back life to another. Perhaps it is not a choice. Humanity has always been destined to live this way. After all, we are only human.
