THE HUMAN IN THE ALGORITHM
By FTY · TR
THE HUMAN IN THE ALGORITHM The Machine Did Not Begin the Story Artificial intelligence did not emerge outside human history. Long before computers, humans developed ways of transforming natural materials, organising actions, recording knowledge and repeating complex procedures. A mark in clay, a woven pattern and a machine-readable instruction belong to different technological traditions, yet each reveals something about humanity's ability to turn experience into transferable knowledge. "The Human in the Algorithm" explores this continuity through a visual transformation: a physical mark gives way to recorded signs, woven structures, patterned instructions, computational representations and the interconnected relationships of contemporary artificial intelligence. The work does not suggest that these technologies evolved in a single uninterrupted sequence. Instead, it examines their shared relationship to human knowledge, abstraction and production. Its central argument is that artificial intelligence is not separate from humanity's accumulated intellectual, material and cultural work. Yet the ability to generate new outputs raises another question: whose knowledge makes them possible, and who controls what is created? The machine did not begin the story. Whose knowledge does it carry?
