I know absolutely nothing about art. But maybe someone who actually knows something about it will read this and give me some feedback. Capitalism has destroyed art. And AI, as a product of capitalism, is poison to our art, too. I hate AI. Art should be authentic. It should happen in a moment, emerge from that moment, and find its way to the place where it belongs, where it can be seen. Which is why galleries make no sense to me. You take art that was created somewhere, under certain circumstances, and place it in a room alongside other artworks that don’t belong there. They don’t fit together. Or maybe they fit conceptually, but somehow, they still don’t really fit. The art that moves me is the art I stumble upon unexpectedly. The art that emerges spontaneously, authentically, without the intention of performing for anyone. Whatever. I haven’t really thought all of this through yet. But my gut tells me that somehow, all of it comes back to capitalism. And in my ideal world, art would be kept out of it. So, if you’re wondering why I’m still entering a competition with a prize, it’s because I want to say: DONATE THAT FUCKING MONEY. I hate this world. Thanks for reading.
