Unrecorded Rituals: Plate III: Confession
By Ariel Taubenfeld · IL
Unrecorded Rituals is a series of archival photographs of rituals that never happened. Confession is a private moment, a lone follower crouches on the stone steps beneath a giant ornate skull, hand pressed to her lips, as if she has just told it a secret. The monument doesn't answer. It is an image about the intimacy we offer to old monuments, and about how much we still trust an old-looking object to tell us what really happened.
