Echo of Eternity
By mustafa Ihasn · IQ
In October 680 AD, in Karbala, Iraq, Hussein ibn Ali stood alongside around 70 of his companions against the army of Yazid ibn Muawiya, which outnumbered them by thousands. Hussein refused to abandon his principles for power. He was martyred alongside members of his family and many of his companions. Their tents were burned, and the surviving women and children were taken captive and marched to the Levant (present-day Syria). Hussein was gone, but his message lived on through the centuries. Today, more than 1,300 years later, millions of visitors still travel to Karbala to commemorate his life and renew their commitment to the principles he stood for: freedom, dignity, justice, and resistance to oppression. This image tells the entire story: the very place where Hussein once stood alone, surrounded by his enemies, now welcomes millions of visitors who come to honor his memory and remain faithful to his stand. The Battle of Karbala ended centuries ago, but its message is still alive today.
