The Calling Flowers
By Porshia Nowrin · BD
The Calling Flowers imagines crimson flowers growing in a quiet forest that, at night, imitate the voices of people a listener deeply misses. Their beauty conceals a predatory purpose: drawing someone close enough to become trapped. A traveler reaches toward a familiar-looking apparition formed from the flowers’ breath, while their roots coil around his ankle. The image holds recognition and danger together, exploring how longing can make a deceptive invitation feel trustworthy. The violence remains implied, allowing the emotional lure to become the centre of the work.
