The Things That Took Time
By Nooruloyoon · QA
What happens to childhood when nothing takes time anymore? Kora remembers a world of hide-and-seek, imperfect songs, and bread made by hand. Now, a tiny device between her eyebrows turns thoughts into commands and delivers answers before questions are finished. While everyone celebrates this effortless future, she quietly holds onto the things she wants to learn for herself. When the system falters, those small acts of resistance become unexpectedly important. Through a child’s eyes, this speculative short story explores the relationship between convenience, human connection, and the pleasure of trying. It imagines a future where making room for technology also means protecting the experiences that make us human.
