HUSTLE CAPY
By Hari Priya Peddigari · IN
People often say that life is shortened by the hours we spend sleeping. But in today’s world, we lose time in another way: waiting. As life gets faster and more digital, we somehow find ourselves standing in more and more queues, waiting for coffee, trains, banks, store openings, flights, and groceries. And we are getting worse at simply waiting. The moment there is nothing happening, our hands reach for our phones. We scroll, refresh, swipe, and move on to the next thing. Our attention is constantly being pulled somewhere else. A small capybara, one of the most recognizable animals of internet culture, becomes the protagonist. He moves from one queue to another, always waiting, always scrolling. The same tiny character keeps repeating the same routine in completely different places. The work turns this everyday habit into a loop and asks a simple question: while we are trying to fill every second of waiting, how much of our time and attention are we actually giving away?
