AI Assisted Me With the Writing. I Authored the Communication.
By John Alexander · AU
This work repeats a single statement across ten languages: “AI assisted me with the writing. I authored the communication.” The work considers the distinction between assistance and authorship at a moment when artificial intelligence is increasingly involved in cultural production. AI enabled communication across languages I do not speak, but the decision to communicate, the words being communicated, the selection of languages, their sequence, typography, colour and final composition were determined by me. Rather than conceal the use of AI, the work places that relationship directly in front of the viewer. The disclosure becomes the artwork.
