The Final Cut — 最後一刀
By Kuo Tsai ying · TW
In an empty cinema, an artist cuts open a beautiful landscape screen. Through the opening, a quiet backstage worker becomes visible beneath a warm work lamp. The image asks what human authorship means when beautiful images are abundant: the decisive act may be removing part of an image so that an overlooked person can be seen. The cut sacrifices visual completeness in favor of attention and responsibility. Human creativity is expressed through what we choose to reveal, and what we are willing to give up to reveal it.
