Human, After All

Many people look at AI with a certain degree of fear: what will it take from us? Our jobs, our creativity, perhaps even art itself. I wanted to look at it from another perspective. What if AI is not a replacement for human creativity, but a new creative partner? The Night Watch did not have to disappear when Maurizio Cattelan turned a banana duct-taped to a wall into art. New forms of art do not erase what came before them. There has always been room for something new, something different, and sometimes something that initially makes us question whether it should even be called art. I consider myself a creative person, but without AI this image would never have existed. At the same time, AI could not have created this particular image without my ideas, experiences, choices and direction. That relationship is represented by the two halves of the face. The left side contains fragments of what happens when I interact with AI: writing, learning languages, translating, storytelling, everyday questions, care, travel, humour, memories and creative experiments. They are pieces of my life and my ideas, interpreted and transformed through AI. The right side strips all of that away. What remains is the machine: technically impressive, but without the human experiences that gave this particular work its meaning.
