Precarious Coherence
By Murat Yazgi · DE
A suspended body appears to occupy a quiet exhibition space. Translucent membranes, openings and fragile connections form a coherent whole that never becomes fully stable. The central void is not an absence from the work but part of what gives the body its form. Its lowest point almost touches the floor, turning apparent weight into suspension. Precarious Coherence explores the unstable boundary between body and image, material presence and simulation. The work presents the visual evidence of sculpture - surface, tension, filtered light, shadow and gravity - while leaving the material origin of that evidence uncertain. The object may never have existed physically in the form in which we seem to encounter it. This uncertainty is the subject of the work. The fragile connections and the central void become more than formal elements: they mirror the fragile relationship between seeing and believing. The image can make material reality feel convincing without guaranteeing that such a reality preceded it. The work therefore does not ask whether AI can simply imitate a sculpture. It asks what happens when technological images become convincing enough to carry presence, vulnerability and meaning - and when it is the human viewer who must decide what to believe, what to feel and what the image ultimately means.
