The Day That Stayed Behind
By Kouken · JP
The Day That Stayed Behind is part of my ongoing In Transit series, exploring moments that do not resolve neatly into departure or arrival. A solitary figure, an empty bench, a small bouquet, and a rain-washed street create a scene in which absence becomes as important as presence. I wanted to preserve the feeling of something that has already happened, yet has not completely disappeared. The geometric fragments interrupt the realism of the cityscape and suggest the instability of memory. The work does not explain what happened. It leaves the viewer somewhere between remembering, leaving, and continuing.
