Machine Eye / Human Hand
By Les Panchyshyn · AT
MACHINE EYE / HUMAN HAND is a realized artistic work created in 2026 by Les Panchyshyn using his own AI-assisted painting method. The final result is a physical painting, executed in acrylic and oil on canvas, measuring 80 × 130 cm. It is not a digital image or a proposal for a future artwork, but a completed work that brings artificial intelligence into dialogue with traditional painting. The method explores the interaction between machine perception and human artistic judgment. AI introduces an additional perspective into the creative process, while the artist retains responsibility for interpretation, composition, color, material decisions, and physical execution. The painting combines a dark vortex, floating planetary forms, expressive textures, and intersecting geometric structures. These elements create a visual dialogue between organic movement and technological precision, intuition and analysis, freedom and structure. At the center of MACHINE EYE / HUMAN HAND is the question of authorship in an age of artificial intelligence. Rather than replacing the artist, AI becomes a tool within an established artistic practice. The human hand transforms this interaction into a tangible painting. The submitted artwork demonstrates a realized application of this method. The accompanying documentation presents its conceptual framework, creative workflow, and completed physical result.
