THE HEART OUTSIDE THE BODY
By PALMEIRA · BR
Seventeen years after receiving Daniel's heart, Marcos is offered a biofabricated replacement made from his own cells. For the first time, the transplanted heart can leave his body without his death. Elisa, Daniel's mother, asks to receive the organ and bury it with her son. The request turns a medical procedure into a conflict over origin, lived biography, grief and belonging: what does it mean to return something that has also become part of another person's life? Originally written in Brazilian Portuguese as O Coração Fora do Corpo; the Portuguese original is attached as the supporting document.
