Labour of Love
By Nadine Weber · AT
Google Marriage is a speculative project exploring the intersections of capitalism, feminism, and politics through the quantification of unpaid domestic labor. Using movement-tracking rings and Google’s data infrastructure, the project collects and analyzes data on the invisible work performed by partners, with AI processing and comparing their contributions. The results are translated into a weighing and charging station and a companion app, making the unequal distribution of unpaid labor visible and raising questions about surveillance, data ownership, and the valuation of care work.
