The Last Decision
By A.S.Alhebsi · AE
The Last Decision explores the boundary between artificial intelligence and human responsibility. On the left, AI produces an expanding field of predictions, simulations, recommendations and alternatives. On the right, those possibilities collapse into a single path: the consequence of a human decision. The figure stands between recommendation and decision, not between humanity and technology. AI is not portrayed as an enemy; it is a powerful instrument capable of generating possibilities at extraordinary scale. The question is what happens after generation ends. At the centre is “I DECIDE,” physically handwritten by the artist on paper, photographed, digitally isolated and incorporated into the final composition. Its imperfect human mark deliberately interrupts the polished digital environment. The work proposes a distinction between capability and responsibility: a system may recommend, predict and generate, but the person who chooses must live with the consequences. The final decision is therefore not presented merely as an act of selection, but as an act of accountability.
