La vie est belle
By Katharina Knischewski · DE
"La vie est belle" - My artwork expresses how artificial intelligence erases the beauty and individuality of life. I created this artwork myself, using paints and my own hands. Out of a feeling of joy, I wrote the words “La vie est belle” directly on the paper — because that is how I felt in that moment. This is something AI cannot do. At the end, I deliberately added the AI element of a soulless human figure attempting to erase exactly those words. I see AI as a potential threat to spontaneous human creation. Whenever we use AI to create something, we first have to think, formulate our ideas, and give it instructions. My painting emerged differently: I did not think about what I wanted to create; I felt, and I translated that feeling directly into colour and movement. Writing “La vie est belle” was a spontaneous expression of genuine joy. Only afterwards did I deliberately introduce the AI-generated, soulless human figure attempting to erase these words. Through this contrast, I want to express my concern that AI may overshadow or erase the beauty of spontaneous human creation, which arises from feeling rather than instruction.
