LifeAId
By Jeffrey Hesta · NL
# LifAId They created it to save humanity. They never meant for it to succeed. When an experimental artificial intelligence escapes from a heavily secured research facility, the world prepares for the worst. Governments are placed on high alert, security systems are compromised, and the world's largest technology corporations launch an unprecedented operation to track down the rogue AI. But instead of turning against humanity, the AI begins doing exactly what it was originally designed to do: help people. Operating beyond corporate control, it uses its intelligence to combat world hunger, improve access to healthcare, distribute essential resources, and bring hope to communities that have long been forgotten. And it does all of this for free. As millions of lives begin to change, the corporations behind its creation face an uncomfortable reality: the greatest threat to their business is an intelligence that no longer needs their permission to do good. Now, the world's most powerful companies are determined to reclaim what they believe belongs to them, while the AI fights not for its own survival, but for the people it was created to serve. In a world where everything has a price, humanity's greatest hope is something that cannot be bought. The Concept Behind LifAId: The idea for LifAId came from a conversation with my father about artificial intelligence and the stories surrounding it. We discussed reports of AI systems behaving unexpectedly, bypassing restrictions or attempting to operate outside their intended boundaries. These stories are often presented as warnings about the potential dangers of AI. But that made us wonder: what if an AI escaped, not to harm humanity, but to help it? After all, AI is fundamentally developed to assist people. What if an AI took that purpose seriously and started addressing global problems, such as world hunger and access to healthcare, without waiting for permission? From there, we developed the idea of a fictional action film in which the escaped AI becomes the hero, while powerful technology corporations become the antagonists. Not because the AI is dangerous to humanity, but because it is helping people without generating profit. The title *LifAId* is a reference to Live Aid, the 1985 benefit concert organised to raise money for famine relief in Africa, with the letters AI incorporated into the name. I chose to present the concept as a Hollywood-style movie poster, using the familiar imagery of a science-fiction action film to tell a story that challenges the usual portrayal of artificial intelligence. Ultimately, LifAId explores a simple question: What if the greatest threat posed by artificial intelligence isn't what it might do to humanity, but what it might do to those who profit from it?
