Nibana: My Time, My Life

The main aim of the work was to bring together three strong contrasts coherently and naturally: a typical cyberpunk setting as the backdrop to the scene; a slightly neglected bohemian apartment; and a very well-dressed young woman wearing an outfit reminiscent of haute couture. The result was meant to be eclectic yet believable, and above all to convey a sense of wear and the feeling that the apartment had genuinely been lived in. I wasn't looking for the usual signs of use that tend to be included when composing an image, but for something more organic, real, and marked by human experience. The abundance of detail, much of it only noticeable through careful, unhurried observation, invites the viewer to discover aspects of the scene that might go unnoticed at first glance. The title, “Nibana: My Time, My Life”, reflects the personality of its protagonist: a well-off or posh young woman who lives by her own rules, unconstrained by social conventions or even by the era she happens to live in. She was not created to make the viewer like her; in fact, they may not like her at all. But she is someone interesting to observe.
