Evidence of No One
By SmartArt · IT
Evidence of No One emerges from the meeting of two normally incompatible scales: the fingerprint, one of the most intimate and individual signs of human identity, and the glacier, a natural form shaped over timescales vastly longer than a human life. The fractures in the ice take on the structure of a fingerprint, transforming the landscape into something that appears simultaneously as territory and evidence. Yet there is no body to which that trace can belong. The work also connects to a real paradox of the present: as global warming accelerates glacial retreat, disappearing ice is revealing objects, remains, and traces that have been hidden for centuries or millennia. The glacier becomes an archive that exposes its contents precisely as it is being erased. The work therefore explores identity, memory, and loss through a contradiction: what disappears is also what allows us to remember.
