Where You Stand, the Story Begins
By Ibrahim Odeh · JO
Where You Stand, the Story Begins is a single, directionless visual composition about how position changes meaning. When the image turns, the same forms reveal four human readings: a life returning to earth (mortality), roots becoming a movement toward light (ascent), solitude becoming tenderness (healing), and the falling away of possessions and noise until the self remains (detachment). Roots become branches, branches become fissures, fissures become roads, and roads become human figures. At its centre, a luminous form resists a single identity: eye, hourglass, unborn child, bowed body, doorway or light. The work asks: Did the picture change—or did you?
