Where the Model Disagrees
By Fandesign · IT
A chair is one of the simplest objects to recognize. In this image, however, recognition does not coincide with stability of form. The object remains immediately readable as a chair, while its backrest, legs, proportions and contours appear to belong simultaneously to several possible versions of the same object. The work explores a characteristic of generative imagery: a system can produce a visually clear meaning without fixing it into one definitive physical form. The subject is semantically certain, yet formally unstable. The work therefore focuses on the distance between recognizing something and assigning it a single, stable form. It does not depict one specific chair, but a representation suspended between multiple possibilities that all remain compatible with the same idea of “chair.”
